2. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Single Class: You may cancel for a full refund up to 12 hours before your scheduled class. Cancellations made less than 12 hours before class are non-refundable, but credit can be used for other classes.
10-Class Package: This is a one-time purchase with no expiry date and no recurring payment. It is non-refundable once purchased. Unlike our other packages, the 10-Class Package may be shared — classes can be used by the purchaser or split among other participants at their discretion. Milestone certificate progress is tracked individually for each attendee based on the classes they personally attend, separate from how those classes were purchased.
Monthly Membership (Solo & Joint): Membership is billed automatically each month to the payment method on file. There is a 2-month minimum commitment from your start date. After the minimum period, membership continues month-to-month until cancelled. To cancel, we require 1 month's written notice (email is fine) before your next billing date. No refunds or credits are issued for classes missed. Joint Membership covers only the two people named at signup and is not shareable or transferable to a different participant.
Transformation Package: This is a one-time payment of $800, charged in full at purchase — no installment plan is available. It includes 40 classes and is valid for 12 months from your start date; unused classes expire at the end of that window. It covers the named purchaser only, is non-transferable, and is non-refundable once purchased.
3. Minors & Teen Participants (Ages 13–17)
Participants under the age of 18 are welcome to join with a parent or legal guardian's consent. A parent or legal guardian must review and sign the liability waiver on behalf of any participant under 18 before their first class. Parents do not need to be present during class, but are highly encouraged to sign up and join in too.

Drop-In | $33/class | Plus a one-time $30 uniform fee for newcomers

2. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Term Registration: To receive a refund for the remaining classes in the term, you must withdraw in writing at least 24 hours before your child's next scheduled class. Written notice given less than 24 hours before the next class does not qualify for a refund of remaining classes, but credit will be kept for future registrations.
Drop-In: May be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before class if you change your mind. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before class are non-refundable, but credit will be kept for future classes.
3. Registration & Consent (Ages 9–13)
Because Be Your Own Hero is for children under 13, registration, payment, and the liability waiver must be completed by a parent or legal guardian on the child's behalf.
Parents and guardians do not stay on-site during class. Due to space constraints, and to protect participants' privacy — we don't want kids to feel like they're performing their new skills for an audience of parents — we ask that you drop off and pick up rather than remain to watch.
When dropping off, please confirm that a staff member is already present in the building before you leave; children are not permitted to wait inside or outside unsupervised. Full details on our drop-off and pick-up procedures are outlined in our Drop-Off & Pick-Up Policy.
4. Belt & Progress System
Be Your Own Hero uses a belt-based progress system, separate from the milestone certificate system used in our Weekly Women & Teen Classes. Students receive a purple t-shirt and white belt on their first day, earn one stripe for every 5 classes completed, and become eligible to test for their next belt level after earning 6 stripes. This system is designed to recognize consistency and effort rather than competition.

1. Payment Methods
Card payments are processed through Eventbrite (Single Classes) or our secure payment provider (packages, memberships, and Be Your Own Hero registration), both of which include standard booking/processing fees. If you'd prefer to avoid those fees, you're welcome to pay by e-transfer instead — reach out to hello@ariseprograms.com to arrange this before you register.
2. Class Changes, Substitutions & Holidays
Classes do not run on statutory holidays. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class due to instructor availability, weather, or facility closure. Where possible, we'll provide advance notice and offer a makeup class or credit toward a future class.
3. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
Our classes involve physical contact, movement, and self-defense techniques that carry an inherent risk of injury. By registering, you (or, for Be Your Own Hero, your child's parent or legal guardian) acknowledge this risk and agree that a liability waiver must be reviewed and signed before attending the first class.
Waivers are sent out as part of the registration process for each program:
Continued participation is contingent on a valid, signed waiver being on file.
4. Health & Physical Readiness
By participating, you confirm that you (or your child) are in adequate physical health to take part in a physical, contact-based class, and have no medical condition that would make participation unsafe. If you're unsure, we recommend consulting a physician beforehand. Our programs are designed to be accessible to a wide range of bodies, abilities, and experience levels — if you have specific mobility or access needs, let us know in advance so we can offer modifications.
5. Code of Conduct
Arise is committed to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, body types, and abilities. We ask all participants, and parents/guardians of Be Your Own Hero participants, to treat instructors and fellow participants with respect. We reserve the right to refuse service to, or remove from class, any participant whose conduct is unsafe, harassing, or disruptive to others, without refund.
6. Facility & Location
Weekly Women & Teen Classes are held at Flow Martial Arts, 1355 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC. Be Your Own Hero is held at 77 East 7th Ave, Vancouver, BC. While on-site at either location, participants (and parents/guardians, where applicable) also agree to abide by the host facility's rules and policies. Arise is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property at either facility.
7. Photography & Media
Arise may photograph or film classes for use in marketing materials, including our website and social media. If you'd prefer not to be included, please state your preference in the waiver.
8. Privacy
Personal information collected at registration (such as your name, contact details, and payment information) is used only to administer your registration, billing, and communications with you, and is not sold to third parties.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our offerings or policies. Continued registration or participation after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
